Engine won’t start

Restore the power chain, rule out a missed generator, and isolate controller input.

DIRECT ANSWER

Press Shift+B for Battery/DC bus, then Ctrl+B for the AC generator on a larger ship, and Shift+E for the engines. If the cockpit controls still fight you, test with extra USB devices disconnected.

Recovery checklist

Stop after each step and watch for a powered display or engine response.

  • Battery / DC bus on — Shift + B
  • AC generator / bus on — Ctrl + B on large ships
  • Engines on — Shift + E
  • Throttle at neutral before startup
  • Try the clickable cockpit control with the mouse
  • Disconnect unused controllers and restart
  • Check for duplicated engine or throttle bindings

Why the generator matters

The official procedure says the AC generator is unavailable on smaller craft but may be required on bigger ships to start the engine or supply the rudder system.
